Getaway means getting away… from what? To where?

When people talk about getaways, their mind drifts off to faraway places. They think of other islands, other countries, and even other continents. I used to think the same. However, after pondering more about it, I realized something. Why should my family go somewhere very far when there’s a place here in the Cordilleras where we could truly get away?

A getaway doesn’t necessarily mean that we have to go somewgere far. To me, a getaway is simply getting away from what surrounds us every day. The city, while full of life, is also full of noise, stress, pollution, and people that we want to avoid. And what better way to get away from all that than going back to nature? To surround oneself with green life, with natural noises, and with the peace that comes with nobody knowing you?

If there’s a perfect place for that, I’d say it’s Sagada! Here’s a mind map of how I plan my family’s getaway to that wonderful place:
